The Gelos Institute teaches marketing and management of the present-day
antiques market, future experts in the antiques and appraisers study
attribution and expert examination techniques, learn to identify
the genuine value of antique and art objects, determine their marker-value
and whether they need restoration.
Classes are conducted by experienced specialists (curators of the most
acknowledged Russian museums' collections) along with businessmen in the

Subjects of lectures and classes cover the whole range of knowledge
required for undertaking professional activity as an expert in the antiques:

The programme is intended for the most diverse applicants and offers
different training opportunities, ranging from short-term
(one- to three- month) courses to two-year professional training
in addition to higher education. For the convenience of students,
the institute offers day, evening and distance learning courses
along with any individual programmes in particular sectors of the
antiques market.
The curriculum considers recommendations of the Russian Federation
Ministry of Property Relations concerning professional appraisal
training. Our students can choose between the Antiques Expert Examination
Technique Course and Business Appraisal Course, do practical work
in Gelos Auction House's departments, visit its galleries and take
part in weekly auctions. Such mixed training lets achieve the key
learning goal: students acquire skills in trustworthy determination
of the genuineness of antiques items.
You will be awarded the Gelos Institute International Diploma verifying
the knowledge required. Upon the course completion and thesis presentation,
students are awarded the International Retraining Diploma enabling them
to undertake a new kind of professional activity in the expert examination
of antiques.
Antiques Expert Examination Technique Course
The Gelos Institute invites the most diversified categories of students,
ranging from beginners to certificated specialists, to take courses in
expert examination and evaluation of antiques.
The course programme provides special knowledge in the expert analysis
of antique items. Subjects of lectures and seminars cover the whole
range of knowledge required for undertaking professional activity
as an expert in the antiques: history of art styles in the world
culture, West-European and Russian painting, metal art work, glass,

Antiques Expert Examination Technique Course

1. Complete Course
Schedule: four-hour classes 4 times a week.
The training programme includes probation in the Gelos's departments
and participation in weekly auctions. After the successful completion
and thesis presentation, students are awarded the Antiques Expert's
International Qualifications.
10 months. 774 hours.
Tuition fee:: $1900
2. Basic Course
Schedule: four-hour classes 4 times a week. On the completion, students
are awarded the Antiques Manager's International Qualifications.
6 months. 418 hours.
Tuition fee: $1100.
3. Distance Course
The course is split into 4 terms (2-week classes once a season),
the training programme is worked out on an individual basis.
12 months.
Tuition fee: $1200.
4. Evening Course
Thrice a week from 6.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.
8 months. 386 hours.
Tuition fee: $1100.
5. Specialised Course in a Particular Sector of the Antiques
Market
Classes are held twice a week.

6. Separate Classes
